Assistant Manager / 2IC Opportunity – Livestock focus at commercial farm in Waterhouse

About us:

An exciting opportunity to join a well-established privately owned commercial farming operation based at Waterhouse in north-east Tasmania.   

The business consists of 3 separate titles in close proximity, the farming operation is 100% livestock with approx. 1200 beef cows plus value-add to progeny and 4000 ewes for wool and cross-bred lambs.

Career opportunity – Assistant Manager/2IC:

An opportunity is available for a motivated person to join the business.  Day-to-day you’ll oversee livestock operations, be responsible for animal welfare, grazing management and general farm maintenance including electric fencing.

You will enjoy a degree of autonomy in your day-to-day work while working closely with the owner and the rest of the team. Whether you’re currently an overseer/assistant manager/2IC or experienced farmhand looking to develop your career in livestock farming, this may be the opportunity for you.

We are seeking someone with: 

  • good time management 
  • a commitment to high standards of animal welfare, and willingness to use ag technologies
  • good communication skills and an ability to work in a team environment
  • a commitment to ongoing learning 
  • practical skills across livestock, general farming operations
  • working dogs and a current drivers’ license are essential
  • machinery operation and pivot irrigation experience is favourable.
