Position Summary
The Dental Assistant at Scottsdale Dental Surgery plays a vital role in supporting the dentists and ensuring efficient, quality care for patients. This position provides hands-on assistance with dental procedures, sterilisation of instruments, and administrative support. As a non-qualified entry-level position, comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to develop the skills necessary for success.
Key Responsibilities
- Chair-Side Assistance: Assist dentists during various procedures, ensuring patients are comfortable and prepared. Hand instruments and materials to the dentist, take dental impressions, and manage suction equipment as needed.
- Infection Control: Adhere to sterilisation and infection control protocols, including cleaning and sterilising dental instruments, equipment, and rooms after each patient.
- Patient Care: Greet patients, make them feel comfortable, and assist with any initial inquiries. Provide pre- and post-procedure instructions as directed by the dentist.
- Inventory and Supplies: Monitor and restock dental supplies in treatment rooms and the central supply area, ensuring adequate supplies are on hand.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential patient records. Enter patient information and procedure details into the system as directed.
- General Support: Assist with the setup and maintenance of dental rooms, manage waste disposal, and perform other administrative tasks as required to support the practice.

- Organisational Skills: Well-organised, able to manage multiple tasks, and ensure rooms and equipment are clean and ready for use.
- Attention to Detail: Accurate and meticulous in following infection control guidelines and documenting patient information.
- Eagerness to Learn: Willing to participate in on-the-job training and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning in a dental setting.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a customer service or healthcare setting is beneficial but not required.
- Willingness to complete any necessary training in infection control and sterilisation.
- Flexibility to work varied hours as required, including occasional weekend availability.
