Job Description
Scottsdale Veterinary Services is looking for a Veterinary Nurse to join our team and play an important role in establishing and growing our new veterinary clinic on Flinders Island.
This is a unique opportunity for a veterinary nurse who enjoys variety, working independently and being part of a close-knit island community.
The clinic is brand new and includes a consultation room, treatment/theatre room and X-ray facilities, with Scottsdale Veterinary Services providing veterinary services to the island.
About the role
This is a part-time position working 2 part-days per week, plus one full day per month when the visiting veterinarian is on the island.
The role will involve a varied combination of veterinary nursing, client service, animal health product sales and clinic administration.
Your role will include a combination of:
- Veterinary nursing and patient care
- Assisting veterinarians during consultation and surgical visits
- Patient admissions, discharges and general nursing duties
- Assisting with anaesthesia and monitoring when required
- Maintaining clinic equipment and ensuring the clinic is clean and organised
- Providing excellent customer service to local clients
- Managing over-the-counter animal health product sales
- Assisting clients with food, worming treatments and other animal health products
- General administration and money handling
- Stock management and ordering
- Supporting the ongoing development and establishment of the new clinic
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or has relevant veterinary nursing experience
- Has experience in general veterinary nursing and patient care
- Is confident assisting with surgical and anaesthetic procedures
- Has excellent communication and customer service skills
- Is organised and able to work independently
- Is comfortable undertaking a varied role involving both nursing and administration
- Has strong computer and literacy skills, with the ability to confidently use clinic software, email and other computer-based systems
- Has a friendly, approachable manner and enjoys building relationships with clients
- Takes pride in maintaining a clean, professional and well-organised clinic
- Is passionate about providing quality veterinary care to animals and their owners
